Below is a theme for the PPC2002 Today Page:

Check out my discussion board for more info and other variations. I will be taking some spring photos in the following weeks and as result you will see some PPC2002 Today Themes and when I have a few nice photos I will create a DashBoard skin.

As those of you who regularly check out my eBooks page know, I am currently reading a DRM5 title. I got it as a free download from MS. It's a great book by the way! But that you can read on the eBooks page. This is as said my first experience with DRM5 protection on my PocketPC. I read through half the book and was lucky enough to get the upgrade for my iPAQ where now I can use the whole 32MB of ROM even though I don't have the new model - I guess I was lucky ;). OK - before I upgraded my iPAQ - that means a hard reset I wondered what to do about the MS reader activation. I don't know what exactly this protection is tied to on the PocketPC, but I deactivated it before I did the upgrade (I read somewhere that on the PC it is tied to the volume number). And when I upgraded and returned to the activation page I was glad to see that I was able to activate the same device as I had before. There are only two devices mentioned on the activation page: my PC and my PocketPC. Now, what would happen if I would upgrade and the change would be significant enough to appear as a new device on the activation page. This means even though I would actually have only 2 different devices I would loose one additional activation. But inspite of the upgrade (hard reset) this didn't happen. I can now rest assured that I won't have problems on the PocketPC side, but what concerns my desktop PC - this is another story, but I don't read on my desktop. But even though everything went fine and I can now continue reading the same book on my newly "Flashed" iPAQ I still prefer DRM2 and DRM3 eBooks.

Is there someone out there who knows how to use that additional 16MB of FlashROM in iPAQ 3600 series? I namely upgraded my iPAQ to the new PocketPC OS and in the assets it says I have 32MB of FlashROM, but since iPAQ upgrade does not distinguish between 16MB and 32MB units there is still free space in that additional 16MB. Is there a way to acces and use it?

Finally! My iPAQ is running on PPC2002! I would like to thank the one who enabled me this upgrade. Thanks! In the following weeks I will create some new PocketPC 2002 Today Themes using my photographs. I also got an e-mail today asking me to create a DashBoard skin with some of my landscape photos and to be honest I was just thinking about something like this a day or two ago. I am currently gasping for time, but I will try to make it happen in the nearest future.

Since I am already mentioning sites you need to visit I certainly need to mention the following two: - Noah Grey site (author of GreyMatter) - The Thought-Space
Both above mentioned sites are to me as a role model - I don't know whether I will ever be able to make mine as perfect as this, but I will try to get close. My About page is the first in turn. I would sure like to make something special no matter how much time it takes...

eNovel recently renovated their page and they are now offering MS Reader titles. Good news is .lit files are in DRM3 format - this means they are PocketPC compatible! All of their titles cost $4 what is certainly a great price for an e-book. I think prices up to $7 are acceptable and I think Palm Reader eBooks are a bit too expensive - I just paid a little over $10 for each of my last two titles, but still better than buying DRM5 eBooks. But this is not all they have to offer - you can subscribe for $10 a month and read all you want - currently this might be a problem since there aren't so many titles in .lit yet, but it looks promising.

Check out my updated Links section. I've added quite a few links and there are still many more that need to be added. You are welcome to add your own. In case you ran out of reading material in MS Reader format check out Zander eBooks - they have some titles in MS Reader and many other formats. You can find more links on my Interactive eBooks page or on my Links page.

My main pages are now redesigned so even those with 800x600 resolution can view them. I am working on a much higher resolution (1600x1200) and it is sometimes hard to make it look good for both extremes. Title of the page is still missing, but I should be able to figure it out in the following days. I am anmely not yet sure where to put it :)

As you can see I already changed the layout. It is far from finished though... Since all my pages were designed to have a side frame I need to make some changes to the code. I will also replace my old page "About Me" with a new interactive version. And one more thing - I still have to add the title of my page to the above photo ;) You can already download two PocketPC 2002 Today Themes from my DiscussionBoard.

Regarding my previous post where I mentioned I am looking for someone who is willing to sell me a copy of the original update CD for iPAQ PocketPC. Now I have no other choice since I got the following e-mail today: "Dear Mr. Osterversnik, With regards to your order, unfortunately it has come up ERROR in the database because of the proof of purchase not being entered. We can no longer process orders as the program has finished. Please contact your local Compaq head office for there details about getting the Upgrade. Sorry for the inconvenience, Compaq Order Center IPAQ Pocket PC - Pocket PC 2002 Upgrade" These people are totally incompetent! I wrote them three times and every time got a reply that I will receive the upgrade CD and what I get now?!

I still haven't got the update for my iPAQ. I ordered it last year - I think it was November - I've written an e-mail to customer support of the company reposible to distribute updates in Europe and first they said it would be delivered in the following weeks, but this was in December. Now it is February and I haven't even received a reply to my last e-mail sent about 10 days ago. I don't intend to wait any longer, therefore I am looking for someone who would be willing to upload the contents of the original update CD to a server so I could download it and update my iPAQ. I am willing to pay you half the price of the update. I know this is illegal but it's their fault. So in case you are prepaired to do so e-mail me and we will talk it out. Thanks!
